Teacher accused of flogging student to death Turns Self In to Police

A teacher accused of flogging a 12-year-old pupil to death in Anambra State has surrendered to the police following days of investigation and a coordinated manhunt by security operatives.

The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Ebere Dim, reportedly turned herself in at the Neni Police Station on Saturday, according to the Anambra State Police Command.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the teacher’s decision to surrender came after sustained efforts by the command’s Safe School Protection Squad, working in collaboration with officers at the Neni Divisional Police Headquarters.

He added that engagements with community leaders, the traditional institution, and other stakeholders in Adazi-Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area, where the incident occurred, also played a key role in securing the suspect’s surrender.

According to the police, the suspect is currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka, where detectives will conclude investigations into the alleged killing.

The police commended residents of Adazi-Ani and local stakeholders for their cooperation throughout the operation, describing their support as vital to the progress of the case.

The command assured the family of the deceased pupil and the public that justice would be pursued, while urging residents to remain peaceful, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and continue to provide credible information to aid ongoing investigations.
